IN ALL LIKELINESS
Coming In
1. Brett Emerton - You cannot tell with this link. There's no questions we've spoken to Feyenoord about a transfer and we've disagreed in the past over the fee. We've also had scouts watch him a number of times but interest appears to have cooled off a bit. Though rumour has it his contract expires at the end of next season so feyenoord may have to agree a cut pric fee for him next summer, in which case we may get him. He's a right winger (can play right back and center mid if needed) and not someone you would buy as cover so if we got him it may see Solano sold.
2. Kleberson - Talented Brazilian World Cup winner who we tried to sign in the January Transfer Window. We made an offer which Kleberson's club didn't feel was good enough so rejected it. There's rumours we are trying to agree a fee with them and sign a contract now giving us first choice on him next summer, though it's unsure how true these are. He's mainly a defensive mid and right mid so could be seen as extra cover for both positions.
3. Darren Bent - We put in an offer for him and Ipswich team mate Darren Ambrose recently though it was turned down as Ipswich felt it was way too short. The offer was small because of Ipswich Town's apparent financial difficulty so they may have needed to sell, even on the cheap. We could very well see him come next summer along with Ambrose, though his coming would see Cort go for sure and maybe see Lua Lua go some time next season if Bent's coming were to keep Lua Lua from getting any first team football which it may well do.
4. Darren Ambrose - Looks a very likely move for next summer. His Ipswich team mate Bent could come with him but because of the striking talent we already have it's unknown whether it'll be a double move we try and make. Ambrose is a right winger, though still under 20 so he could be seen as perfect back up for Solano, who is good enough to start games if needed and can replace Solano in a couple of years time.
5. Michael Carrick - If West ham are relegated we may see a move happen. Sir Bobby is a big fan and Carrick's a geordie so it would appear a move made in heaven for both parties but we do have talent here already, and Carrick isn't someone prepared to sit on the bench as he wants desperately to break into the England team and because of our talent we have already it may see this move not happen.
6. Tony Caig - SIGNED! Signed him on a free from Hibernian on the last day of the January Transfer Window.
7. James Beattie - A striker who's talents are suspect. His build and style are in the mould of Alan Shearer so is seen as many as a perfect replacement for when Shearer hangs up the boots by many when coupled with Beattie's scoring form this season and in patches in the past two seasons. But that's what makes his talents suspect. His scoring form has only been in patches so far so we're staying skeptical of him. But with Ameobi's recent good form when replacing Shearer, Beattie may never be considered.
8. Martin Taylor - A Geordie like Carrick which makes this move interesting a very possible, we put in a bid for him just before the January Transfer Window opened up, however our bid was rejected by Rovers manager Graeme Souness who got Taylor to sign a new 5-year-contract with Rovers just before our bid.
9. Jonathan Woodgate - SIGNED! We signed Jonathan on the last day of the January Transfer Window after a few days of negotiating between clubs. It was the biggest and most talked about transfer from the January Transfer Window and it saw many Leeds fans complaining about the move. For a week they tried to keep the transfer from happening but when it went through, it left Leeds fans disillusioned about the club's hunger and ambition. Seen by many of our fans as the best buy since Shearer, it was our 3rd most expensive transfer behind Shearer and Robert and seen by many as the final major jigsaw piece to Sir Bobby's team.
10. Wayne Bridge - A possible transfer for next summer. Some fans believe we need a new left back, though Olivier Bernard has been getting better every month this season and is beginning to make those who want a new left back reconsider. If we manage to finish in the top 4 again this season, it'll mean we'll have Champions League football again, which means big money so we could look to strengthen our team for a title challenge next season and Wayne Bridge could be one of the transfer additions to push for the title. Time will tell.
11. Lorenzo Amorouso - Stephen Caldwell's contract expires at the end of this season and it's believed he'll go to Rangers, Amorouso's club so this could see Amorouso become available and if Sir Bobby wants to add some strength to the heart of defence with caldwell departing, then Amorouso could be the man he goes for however any Toon fans don't want to see it happen as Amorouso is not seen by many as a good enough defender for the club.
12. Daniel Van Buyten - A very possible transfer for next summer too. We tried to get him in the January Transfer Window but had our bid rejected and we weren't prepared to up our offer as we felt they wanted too much for him at the time. But next summer we could go back for him, Sir Bobby has said he'll keep tabs on him so next summer we could turn to Van Buyten to sure up our defence ahead of a long campain for the title.
IN ALL LIKELINESS
Going Out
1. Clarence Acuna - Currenty 5th choice for one of the two center midfield positions behind Dyer, Speed, Viana and Jenas. Clubs have made enquiries, but not stepped up their interest yet. His chances with the first team have been limited the past 18 months, so his days at the club seem numbered but he has vowed to try and fight for a position and the prospect of Champions League football is insentive enough.
2. Wayne Quinn - LOANED OUT! He's on loan to Sheffield United, the club we bought him from a little over 2 years ago and there's talk of the deal becoming a permanent one with Sheffield paying us what we paid for him, but reports suggest it may only happen if Sheffield United get promoted to the Premier League.
3. Robbie Elliott - Derby County tried to get him on loan, we accepted their bid but he rejected the chance to move to the club after deciding to try and fight for a position in the first team. He could be sold next summer if we buy a left back.
4. Carl Cort - Think he could be sold next summer, but there's nothing written in stone. He's had dramatic injury problems in his first 2 and a quarter seasons which have only alloud him to play a handful of games for the club. The last 5 or so months he's been fit though, just not used as he's down the pecking order now and those above him are doing the job when asked so we could very well see the club cut it's losses with Cort and sell him in the summer.
5. Neale McDermott - RELEASED!
Was released to Fulham on a free contract. The talented youngster was apart of our Youth Academy, but there were strong reports of he and his father having a big argument with certain members of the Academy coaching staff as McDermott felt he wasn't treated fairly so he was alloud to leave for Fulham.
6. Laurent Robert - Many, many reports in papers and on websites of the Frenchmen leaving. Seems the papers in London (News of the World especially) are trying to force Robert out, his words are constantly twisted around int he papers to make it look like he's complaining about one thing or another but don't believe the lies. Robert is a major part of the team, he gets along well with his team mates and at this point in time there is nothing to suggest Laurent Robert will be sold.
7. Christian Bassedas - An offer or two has come in from South American teams, in particular River Plate but Bassedas has his heart set on staying in Europe if he leaves us. He's been on loan to Spain a couple of times in the last 18 months but no permanent deals have gone through yet. He should be sold or let go in the summer.
8. John Karelse - His contract expires in the summer so he's definitely on the way out. It was expected he would join Hibernian when we got Caig from them, but a swap deal never happened so in th summer Karelse is likely to go back to his native Holland.
9. Stephen Caldwell - Very likely he'll leave in the summer. He's done enough to earn a new contract as far as what many fans think but it's unlikely he'll be offered a new contract now that Woodgate has arrived so expect to see him leave in the summer for Rangers.
10. Stuart Green - SOLD! Sold to Hull City for around 150,000 pounds, recently though he's reportedly had a falling out with the manager at Hull City, Peter Taylor, and so could be sold to Carlisle for the same fee that Hull paid us.
11. Michael Chopra - A few clubs were interested in getting Chopra on loan in the January Transfer Window but Coventry's the only club we know who stepped up their interest and made an offer but all who enquired were told he's not available. |
